Critical Illness Medical Assistance

ULS HBF provides a one-off critical illness medical assistance of UGX 1,500,000 yearly to eligible paid-up members diagnosed with a qualifying critical illness.

Bereavement Support

ULS HBF provides bereavement support of UGX 3,000,000 to the family of a deceased eligible paid-up member.

Health and Wellness Programmes

ULS HBF organises health talks, sensitization programmes, mental health and wellness initiatives to promote the overall wellbeing of members.

Qualifying Critical Illnesses

The following conditions qualify for critical illness medical assistance. This list is reviewed and updated by the Board regularly.

  • Cancer (excluding less advanced cases)
  • Moderate to severe heart attack
  • Stroke with neurological deficits or permanent symptoms
  • Kidney or liver failure
  • Severe COVID-19
  • Major surgeries
  • Advanced neurological diseases including Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia and Motor Neurone Disease
  • Brain tumours
  • Severe traumatic injuries
  • Blindness
  • Deafness
  • Major burns
  • Other life-altering conditions as may be determined by the Board
